26th Solvay Conference on Chemistry
"Chemistry Challenges of the 21st Century"
Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the first Solvay Conference on Chemistry
Brussels, 17 - 19 October 2022 (By invitation only)
Organizers:
- Prof. Kurt Wüthrich, Scripps Research, La Jolla, CA, USA
and ETH Zürich, Switzerland (Chair)
- Prof. Ben Feringa, University of Groningen,The Netherlands (Co-Chair)
The Conference will be the scientific part of a five-day celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the first Solvay Conference on Chemistry in 1922. The Conference will be preceded by a Public Lecture on October 16, includes six half-day scientific sessions on October 17-19, and is followed by an “Academic Session” addressing society on October 20, with policy makers, industry representatives and a general public in attendance.
At the outset of each session, its theme will be introduced with a 20-minute presentation by the Session Chair, who will survey the research to be discussed in his/her session (rather than primarily present his/her own results). Six panelists will then comment on the subject of the Session from their viewpoints, with formal presentations of duration up to 10 minutes. The Session Chair animates the subsequent 2-hour discussion with all the participants.
