26th Solvay Conference on Physics: "Astrophysics and Cosmology"
Brussels, 9 - 11 October 2014
Chaired by Roger Blandford (Stanford U., USA)
By invitation only
The First Solvay Conference on Physics took place in 1911 at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels. It was followed by 42 other Solvay Conferences on Physics or Chemistry. As it is well know, these played a crucial role in the development of modern science, as can be seen from the list of participants in the 1927 Solvay Conference. According to tradition, discussions are essential. To initiate them, each session starts with one sixty minute report, the text of which is circulated before the meeting. Both reports and discussions are published in the proceedings.
The Scientific Committee for Physics of the Solvay Institutes is in charge of the current conference.
