Ionic liquids: from fundamentals to applications

Workshop

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) or salts with melting points below 100 °C as well as deep eutectic solvents, have attracted attention for the development of “green chemistry” since, with their low vapour pressure and a good thermal stability, they are possible alternatives for organic solvents. The technological potentialities of ionic liquids are huge and the exploration of new technologies in fields such as electrochemistry, catalysis, purification technologies, environmental remediation, materials and sustainable energy is progressing very fast. Fundamental aspects related to the structure, properties and reactivity of these liquids are however key issues that need to be explored and discussed for the understanding of the impact of RTILs on these fields and the elaboration of new chemical strategies. The main scientific objective of this international workshop is to generate discussions between experimentalists and theoreticians, involved in fundamental and applied research to reach some better knowledge of the reactivity of ionic liquids.
