Management
The International Solvay Institutes are the union of the International Solvay Institute for Chemistry and the International Solvay Institute for Physics. Each Institute has its own Director, responsible for the organization of the scientific activities in her/his field, including defining their scientific directions. One of the two directors is furthermore « Managing director », in charge of the daily management of both Institutes (finances, personnel etc). The directors report regularly to the Board of Directors which makes sure that the running of the Institutes is done according to its missions and with reasonable and due care. The mandates of the Directors last 6 years and are renewable.
The Directors are assisted in their scientific tasks by:
- The members of the executive committee ;
- The International Scientific Committees for Physics and Chemistry, which are fully responsible for the scientific organization of the “Conseils Solvay” ;
- The Local Scientific Committees, which help them for the organization of all the other activities (workshops, colloquia, chairs).
The Managing Director is assisted in his management tasks by the administrative staff.
